eQuip Leadership Development School

The course is built upon the relationship seen between Moses and Joshua. The key verses for eQuip are Deuteronomy 34:9 and Joshua 1:6-7. In them we see Moses mentoring Joshua, laying hands upon him and imparting wisdom, authority and ability through the anointing of God. Joshua was also taught and eQuipped in the law; through all this, he was able to possess the promised land.
We are still given skills and abilities by God that we believe he wants us to develop. The ability to see more, farther, or before others is some of the gifts of a leader. However, these gifts may lie dormant within us if we never put them to the test, for it is only by putting them to the test that they will grow. Through the example of Moses and Joshua, we want to have influential and effective leaders from around the globe come and share what they have learnt, not just through teaching, but relationship.
eQuip has been designed with this growth in mind, it is not enough to just learn about tools that develop leadership skills; you must put them into practice and learn to wield them efficiently. We see the graduate of the school being a confident and strong leader, one filled with a mature passion (courageous) that comes from being rooted and grounded in the word and spirit of God.
eQuip will entail 12 weeks of training here at YWAM Blackfalds and 8 weeks of application through outreach compiling 20 weeks total.
The training weeks are broken up into three parts: lectures, practical application, and discussion forums. Every week will have a project or application that the entire school will work on that specifically applies what is being taught. The discussion forums will be directed through the teaching and are meant to bring other ideas and opinions into the development of your leadership.
The lecture phase of the training is going to emphasize three essential elements of leadership:- Practical skills - hands on activities and projects
- Relational tools - working together in a team
- Spiritual development - importance of biblical grounding
The activities of the outreach is not going to be the emphasis as much as giving each team the ability to develop the tools that have been given in the lecture phase. It will be developed to give you experience in the widest variety of environments as possible in order for you to gain experience.
